MosquitoCon 23 is in the Books!

IMG_9766Some quick numbers:

  • 94 model registrants
  • 352 models entered
  • 357 walk-in spectators

The numbers were down slightly this year, as the AMPS show was on the same date in Virginia, and it showed in the armor categories, but other categories made up the difference. We had one of the largest ship turnouts in recent memory.

Best Aircraft, Best WWI Subject, and Best of Show went to Adrian Davies with his 1/32nd scale FE-2b from a Wingnut Wings kit. Photos of Adrian’s build are shown here. The other Best Of and all of the show entrants will be posted as soon as I can sort through the photos (it takes some time to sort and rename over 400 photos!)

Club Members: This months meeting on April 11th has been CANCELLED due to a scheduling conflict that the Knights of Columbus just informed us of. We’re on for meeting next month on May 9th.

MosquitoCon 23 is a GO.

Just a last-minute note to let everyone know that MosquitoCon 23 is as ready as it’s ever gonna be, and we’re all set to open the doors at the Wayne PAL at 9 a.m. this coming Saturday, April 5th. For information on entry fees, rules, contest categories, etc., check out the MosquitoCon 23 page.

Sponsor in the name of your club, organization, or business and we’ll give you a link on the Trophy Sponsorship page, and mention you during the awards ceremony.

See everyone on Saturday!

MosquitoCon Information Added

The most current information has been added to the lists of Trophy Sponsors and to the Vendor and Raffle Sponsor pages. We can’t say “thank you” enough to all those who are helping out with MosquitoCon 23 by sponsoring a trophy package, donating to the raffle, or showing up to do business in the dealer’s room.

The most recent newsletter for March 2014 was added to the Newsletter page.

March Meeting: Heavy Metal Night

IMG_9623The March 2014 meeting theme of Heavy Metal Night saw a good turnout. The content was battleships, tanks, suits of armor, and plenty of other slabs of steel. In the end a Jadgtiger and a suit of armor took the top prizes, graciously provided by the evening’s sponsor, Martin Quinn.

Other business included last-minute information on MosquitoCon, and initial talks about the Nationals in Hampton, Va, this coming August.

February 7th, 2014 Meeting

IMG_9607With no set contest, the February meeting was a free-swim of whatever showed up. Lots of cool armor and figure dioramas, autos, aircraft, etc. Several in-progress builds were displayed, including Martin’s nearly-finished 1/350th scale USS North Carolina.

Meeting business was kept brief and to the point on all things MosquitoCon. Vendor tables are nearly sold out, awards are ready to go, and the location has been scouted.

March’s theme is Heavy Metal, so bring your tanks, battleships, heavy bombers and robots. Nearly everyone has their kits for the Tin Can Group Build. They’re due in September. Get those hulls in the water!
