This coming weekend is JerseyFest at the Newark Airport Marriot hotel:
This a great sci-fi and figure modeling show. Well worth checking out. The only caveat I will give is that parking is EXPENSIVE, like $44 a day, so carpool or mass-transit it.
The March 2016 edition of the NJIPMS newsletter, the MosquitoGram, has been added to the Newsletter page.
Also, updated continue on the MosquitoCon 26 page. Trophy sponorships have been going fast (there’s still a few left) and we’ve added a list of the vendors attending and the companies that have donated items to the raffle. 27 days and counting!
The 2017 Academy of Model Aeronautics dates and links have been added to the Upcoming Events page. NJIPMS modelers receive $2 off the price of admission when your NJIPMS membership card is shown at the time of ticket purchase.
The New York Society of Model Engineers have their annual model train show over the next few weekends. Also added to the Upcoming Events page. There are three separate model shows this weekend.
Due to your editor’s busy travel schedule this summer, the newsletters and website updates have been a bit sparse. That being said, both the June and July newsletters have been added to the Newsletter page.
Check the website between now and the Nationals in early August for word if there is to be any club outing in Columbia during the event.
Tonight there have been more updates to the site, including a list of sponsors of the show, added to the main MosquitoCon 25 page.
A list of MosquitoCon 25 Contest Trophy Sponsors has also been added to the website. Check out the Trophy Sponsorships MosquitoCon 25 page for the lists of sponsored categories, and those categories still available for purchase.
From NJIPMS member Jimmy Lincoln:
“I saw an ad in The Star Ledger today about some of The Collings Foundation’s aircraft coming to our state August 26-September 10. The planes are a B-17, B-24, B-25 and a P-51. All will be open for walk-through tours and flights. Tours are $12, and flights $450. (Flights need to be reserved ahead of time.) The airports where they’ll be are in Monmouth, Trenton, Millville, Cape May and Morristown- a wide coverage to maximize those interested in going to see these planes”
The main Collins Foundation page is here: http://www.collingsfoundation.org/
With the specific schedule for the tour listed here: http://www.collingsfoundation.org/events/category/wings-of-freedom-tour/
JerseyFest 2015 commences one week from today. Click on the flyer to the left for more information, or visit the JerseyFest website here: http://jerseyfestfair.com/
The newsletter for August 2015 has been uploaded to the Newsletter page. I went light on the photos this month, as all of my Nationals photos have been added to the photo gallery site, per my recent post.
Also, the website for the IPMS Nationals 2016, in Columbia, SC, is live. A link has been added to the Upcoming Events page.
**UPDATE** The meeting time at Schmidt’s will be 5p.m.
Just a reminder that the club will be having a group outing for members at Schmidt’s (Real! German! Food!) on Thursday evening of the Nationals. That’s next Thursday, the 23rd, at 5 p.m.* The restaurant’s website is HERE, and the address is:
240 East Kossuth Street
Columbus, OH, 43206
Remember, this is a club member event. Others (family, friends, etc.) are welcome to join us, but the club will only be covering the tabs of dues-paying members. This is purely a matter of finances, nothing more.
